Soulja Boy has been arrested on felony drug, weapons charges in Temple Georgia.
Rapper Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, was arrested on felony drug and weapons charges after what police called a “routine traffic stop” in Temple, Georgia. Police Chief Tim Shaw tells The Associated Press that police stopped the rented Cadillac Escalade early Tuesday morning (18.10.11) because a light wasn’t working. Soulja Boy, 21, and the other four men in the car were arrested after marijuana, cash and guns were found during a search of the SUV.
All five occupants in the car were very cordial and the arrest went smoothly, according to the Police Chief. Soulja Boy was booked into the Carroll County Jail on charges of marijuana and firearms possession. He was subsequently released on $10,000.
It is not the first time the hip-hop star has been in trouble with police. He was arrested in 2009 and charged with obstruction after an incident at a video shoot in Georgia. Soulja Boy, who is working on his fourth studio album Respect My Hustle, shot to fame in 2007 when his single Crank That reached number one.
