Paula Abdul has been quite busy with her promotional duties for the “X-Factor” making stops on two different talk shows in New York City on Tuesday September 20th. Paula Abdul Talks About Co-host Simon Cowell On “The Today Show” to talk about why she decided to pair up with him once again as a judge on a talent show. “We’re like an old married couple with the sex by choice,” Paula told the host. These two are known to have a tumultuous relationship, but yet seem to have grown very close over the years.
As Paula continued, “I mean, it took 10 years to understand each other. But Simon’s been my best teacher. He’s taught me. I’ve always known I’m a strong woman, but he really taught me some inner strength. He always provoked me and challenged me, and the more I stood up for myself and stood up to him, the more he embraced me.”
The “X-Factor” is known to be somewhat different from other TV talent shows as this show has no age limit. This show allows younger contestants to participate and that prize is much more than any other show. Paula explains, “The 12-year-olds are fiercely competitive. I mean, just as passionate as older contestants and their work ethic is, like, unparalleled. There’s no age limit going upwards, so it’s nice. It gives people a second or third chance to come back and compete. The prize is $5 million, and they get a Pepsi campaign in the Super Bowl as well.”
After leaving the morning interview on “The Today Show” Paula decided to take some time off to relax in the city. During the night she headed to the Ed Sullivan Theatre to make an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman.” Once there her interview was pretty much the same as her morning interview. She discussed the difference between “X-Factor” and “American Idol.”
The “X-Factor” seems to be making a huge impact on the world of talent TV shows. Is this going to be the end of “American Idol?”
