“I’m so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMAs – it’s a dream come true. This is such a huge event that always recognises the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it’s a real honour to be MC at this year’s show.”-Selena Gomez said.

Maroon 5′s singer Adam Levine to MTV VMAs: F–k You!

Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine said the F word to MTV VMAs.

Adam Levine, whose band Maroon 5 is not nominated at this year’s MTV VMA’s, let his feelings known about the event.

The singer tweeted on Saturday (27.08.2011):

“The VMAs [are the] one day a year when MTV pretends to still care about music. I’m drawing a line in the sand. F–k you, VMAs.”

The network quickly responded to Adam Levine’s bitter words via their Twitter telling the singer:

“Soooo you’ll be tuning in at 9/8C tomorrow right? (BTW, bonus points if you TwitPic your 2004 Moonman!)”

But the musician didn’t stop there. Less than 30 minutes later, angry Adam Levine tweeted again:

“Still waiting to have my ‘Jerry Maguire mission statement moment of deep regret.’ Not happening. Phew!”

Seven hours later the Maroon 5 singer tweeted VMAs again, but this time apparently took some time to reflect upon his statement:

“I may be a pop singer. But every once in a while the angsty teenager in me just blurts out some raw honesty. It’s a reflex.”

Maroon 5 won the 2004 MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist following their debut album ‘Songs About Jane.’

The name of the awards show was officially changed from Video Music Awards to the VMAs in 2010, in an apparent attempt to appear less hippocritical about no longer featuring music on “Music Tele Vision”.

Adam Levine is currently on tour with Train and Gavin DeGraw.

Katy Perry equals Michael Jackson’s record

Big reason for big smile: Katy Perry's five number one singles equal Michael Jackson's record.

Katy Perry has become the first woman to have five number one singles from the same album on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her latest song ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F)’ made history as it became her fifth single from platinum record ‘Teenage Dream’ to reach the top spot, after the success of ‘California Gurls‘, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Firework’ and ‘E.T.

The late pop legend Michael Jackson achieved the same record when his album Bad featured five number one singles between 1987 and 1988 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Katy Perry must be really proud being compared to the King of Pop.

“What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song ‘LAST FRIDAY NIGHT’ is officially #1 & made HISTORY! (sic)”-she wrote on her Twitter account to announce the great news.

Katy Perry later praised her fans for helping her become the first woman in music to equal Michael Jackson’s record.

“& u know, I couldn’t have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG… so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! #allbecauseofu (sic)”-she added afterwards.

Katy Perry's fun-loving music made a record that only Michael Jackson has done it before.
