The power couple split after being married for six years.

Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, one of the Hollywood‘s power couples, split after Ashton’s reported infidelity with 22-year-old Sara Leal. The 49-year-old actress, who has three daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis released a statement yesterday (17.11.11):

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”-the actress said after the split.

Thursday’s confirmation of the split comes after months of media reports about problems between Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, who married in 2005 when she was 42 and he was 27. The “Two and a Half Men” actor tweeted a poignant message minutes after the Ghost star announcement.

“I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK.”-Ashton wrote.

As well as being a famous acting couple, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have both been pioneers of the use of social media, notably Twitter. The couple also created the DNA Foundation, also known as the Demi and Ashton Foundation, in 2010 to combat the organised sexual exploitation of girls around the globe.

No divorce papers had been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court as of Thursday afternoon, the Associated Press news agency reported.

This is the second time the actress has featured in the designer’s campaigns. She was also shot by fashion photographer Patrick Demarchelier for Ann Taylor’s Fall 2011 campaign.
